Supervised Independent Living Program (SILP)
The Supervised Independent Living Program is a type of agency boarding home in which children live on their own in the community under the supervision of the Children’s Home. This program provides a transitional experience for children for whom the plan of care is discharge from care to his/her own responsibility. Children in this program are usually 18 years of age at time of admission and will have received their high school diploma or GED. Each SILP apartment is fully equipped so that children are learning meal preparation, housekeeping, financial management and other skills needed for living independently.
