I know that I can make a positive impact in the lives of the youth while also growing and learning from them myself. Having a great supervisor and supportive team has also made my experience here even more meaningful.
The youth are definitely my motivation. Every youth that we have has a different story to tell. Using positive reinforcement, helping them feel heard and valued during their stay in the program is an achievement.
CHP has always felt like one big family to me. The mission has always been at the forefront, and I feel blessed to have been able to share this journey with so many.
The most rewarding part has been seeing direct, positive impact on the children and families we serve. Whether it is helping a minor reach a milestone or de-escalating a difficult situation successfully.
Some of my favorite memories are the small moments that most people wouldn’t think are a big deal — like when a kid who used to never smile finally laughs at one of your jokes, or when a child who was really struggling starts asking you for help instead of acting out. Those little breakthroughs mean everything.
The most rewarding part is knowing that we’ve helped so many youth in our Empower Program. We’ve watched them grow and make positive changes while in the program and also after leaving CHP.
The most rewarding part of my career at CHP has been being able to cross-train in different programs and work with different kids in each program. Also, being able to teach the kids new skills like cooking and crafting, and new ways of handling different situations with a positive outcome.
All Children’s Home positions are subject to an extensive background check including, but not limited to; NYS Criminal Background Check through the NYS Justice Center, Sex Offender Registry, a pre-employment drug screen, Department of Motor Vehicle check and I-9 verification. All offers of employment are contingent on satisfactory completion of the above stated clearances.
