Poughkeepsie, NY – The Children’s Home of Poughkeepsie’s Social Network Committee will host their fourth annual Run for Home, a 5K to Benefit the Children’s Home of Poughkeepsie on Sunday, August 27, 2017. This year’s event will take place on the Dutchess Rail Trail at the Van Wyck Lane parking lot, located at the corner of Van Wyck Lane and Lake Walton Road, just off Route 376. Race Day Registration opens at 7:15 am; Kids 1 Mile Race begins at 8:00 am; and the 5K Run/Walk starts at 8:45 am. There will be age group awards, children’s activities and refreshments.
The Children’s Home Social Network Committee is a group of young professionals from throughout the Hudson Valley that was created to raise awareness of the Children’s Home of Poughkeepsie and to develop a commitment to philanthropy among the next generation of community leaders. The Social Network presents fun and meaningful opportunities for people of all ages to get involved in that supports the work of the Children’s Home.
Proceeds from the Run for Home 5K ensure that children at the Children’s Home of Poughkeepsie receive the best possible care, including a more robust children’s activities program, increased education assistance, special services to families, and enhanced services to youth transitioning to independence. Community support helps to provide enhanced services to children, including additional social workers, childcare staff, and a facility service dog program.
Individual 5K Walk/Run registrations are $25 ($35 on Race Day); kids are free if pre-registered ($10 on Race Day). To register for the event, visit www.childrenshome.us.
