Family Opportunity Center

The Family Opportunity Center is a grant-funded program through the Office of Children and Family Services. Located in Wingdale, NY, the Center provides a safe, supportive, and engaging space for youth of all ages and their families. It offers a variety of activities, including literacy enrichment, homework support, sports, games, arts and crafts, cooking, sensory spaces, toddler activities, and more. In addition, the Center provides individual and family therapy services, support groups, and skill-building opportunities. The Center is free and open to all members of the community.

What is there to do at the Family Opportunity Center?

Activity Stations

Tiny Toes This area is designed for the little ones (2 and under). Here you will find soft mats for exploring and toys to enhance fine and gross motor skills.
Imagination Station Fully outfitted with a kitchen, dress up clothes, costumes, a puppet theater, and more – this play space is designed to foster imaginative play.
Sensory Space Move and feel your way through this space with hands-on activities that are sure to appeal to young and not-so-young alike.
Check Mate A large table is the center stage of this space, with board games galore! Grab a partner or two and get your game on!
Slam Dunk Make your way to our arcade section where you will find a full size ping pong table and basketball hoop game.
Literacy Enrichment In our classroom space you will find a small library and computers. Curl up with a good book, read aloud, or use the computer for homework. This space is designed as a quieter study area and will offer homework assistance, vocational support, and literacy enrichment.
Arts & Crafts Anytime you visit the Center, you can count on arts and crafts! Check out our craft area, pick a project, and let the creativity flow!
Family Dining Would you like to eat together with your family on site? Speak to our staff about reserving our dining room to enjoy a family meal!
Support Services Our staff are ready to connect our visitors to additional support services that may be needed. We provide a host of services in the community and we are happy to meet at a place most comfortable for the child and/or family. We offer comprehensive care coordination, individual, family, and group therapy, support groups, parent support, prevocational skill building, and advocacy support.
